Distributes Reading Books to Support Children’s Literacy Development

Literacy is one of the fundamental pillars of human development. The ability to read and comprehend information not only supports educational achievement but also fosters critical thinking, creativity, and the capacity to adapt to future challenges and opportunities.

Although literacy development in Indonesia continues to improve, promoting a strong reading culture and ensuring equitable access to reading materials remain important challenges. According to the 2025 Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) compiled by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, Indonesia recorded an IPLM score of 40.06. The assessment was conducted only in provinces where library affairs are managed by dedicated government institutions at the departmental level. This indicates that strengthening the literacy ecosystem, including expanding access to quality reading resources, remains a priority in many regions across the country.

Limited access to books and literacy facilities can reduce learning opportunities, particularly for children. Yet books play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of younger generations. Through reading, children can acquire new knowledge, broaden their perspectives, develop their imagination, and build lifelong learning habits that contribute to their personal and academic development.

As part of its commitment to education and literacy, GREENEVA, through its GREENEVA Peduli program, organized a book donation initiative for children and communities in need. This activity represents the company’s effort to contribute to expanding access to knowledge while encouraging a greater interest in reading among the public.

The donated books are expected to serve as learning resources, sources of inspiration, and tools to nurture curiosity and a passion for learning from an early age. By increasing access to reading materials, GREENEVA hopes to help foster a sustainable reading culture that becomes an integral part of everyday life.

Beyond providing direct benefits to recipients, the initiative is also intended to help create a more supportive learning environment. A strong literacy culture enhances individuals’ ability to understand information, broaden perspectives, and prepare future generations to address social, economic, and environmental challenges.

As an environmental and sustainability consulting firm, GREENEVA believes that sustainability extends beyond natural resource management and environmental protection. Sustainable development also requires investing in people through education, capacity building, and expanded access to knowledge. Supporting literacy initiatives is therefore one of the ways GREENEVA contributes to inclusive and sustainable development.

Through the GREENEVA Peduli program, GREENEVA remains committed to implementing initiatives that create positive impacts for both communities and the environment. This book distribution activity is expected to serve as a small yet meaningful step toward expanding learning opportunities, empowering future generations, and building a more knowledgeable, capable, and resilient society for a sustainable future.
